About this Event
Meeting Again!
After the great success of last year, Far North and Fun Fiddle are joining forces for a day of learning for intermediate and advanced players.
2 Empathic Organisations
We are excited to bring our two groups together again. Traditional music, community, fun, connection and learning are at the heart of our organisations and we look forward to a great day based on all of this and more!
2 Harmonious Instruments
We will be focusing on, Scottish Smallpipes (Key of A) and Fiddle, all day!
4 Brilliant Tutors
Brìghde Chaimbeul, Sarah Hoy, Fin Moore & Aidan O' Rourke...
Brìghde hailing from the Isle of Skye has been making great waves in the traditional music scene. Developing her own style on the Scottish Smallpipes and pushing boundaries with her tunes and ability to mesmerise audiences around the world.
Sarah is a native Portobellian, and is no stranger to both groups, teaching for Fun Fiddle and also at Retreats for Far North. She has been steeped in traditional fiddle music form a young age and currently plays with the fiddle led Dance Band, the Bella MacNabs.
Fin also comes from a family of musicians and followed in his fathers foot steps, not just playing but also making pipes. He started teaching at the age of 18 and has played in many groups over the years including with his wife Sarah. They love the melody to take centre stage!
Aidan is a master of his instrument and can be seen and heard in many of Scotland's top bands, from early Blazin' Fiddles to the amazing Lau. He paired up with Brìghde a few years ago to produce her first album 'The Reeling' and they have been gigging as a duo ever since.
1 Day of Workshops & Performances
We will start the day by learning the tunes from the tutors of your own instrument before swapping over to learn from the tutors of the other instrument. In the afternoon, we can then use our set of tunes as the basis for the workshops where we will mix ourselves up to work with pipers and fiddlers in the same class. This year,we won't do the performances at the end of day.
