You have learnt the regulations. You have probably worked your way through the JCQ documentation. You may have already dealt with entries, access arrangements, timetables and some internal exams.
But there is one thing you cannot learn from a handbook…
What it is actually like to run your first summer exam season.
Our Your First Summer Exam Season training day is designed specifically for Exams Officers who have never managed a summer exam season before.
This is not a general introduction to the Exams Officer role. It is a practical day focused on getting you ready for the months ahead – helping you understand what is coming, what needs to happen and where the pressure points are likely to be.
We focus on the practical reality of running examinations.
Who is this training for?
This event is specifically for staff who:
- are new to the Exams Officer role and have not yet run a summer exam season
- have taken over responsibility for exams during the academic year
- have some experience of the role but have never been responsible for a full summer series
- have inherited an exams office and are wondering, “What happens next?”
- want to check that they have not missed anything before the summer season begins
- Senior leaders or other staff that will be acting exams officers under the contingency plan
It is suitable whether you work in a school, college or other examination centre.
This training is NOT aimed at experienced Exams Officers.
If you have already successfully managed several summer exam seasons, this is unlikely to be the right event for you.
What will we cover?
We will take you through the summer exam season from the perspective of someone doing it for the first time.
The Exams Officer Training Event will be delivered by seasoned professionals with extensive experience in examination administration and management. The interactive sessions will include presentations, case studies, group discussions, and practical exercises, ensuring an engaging and immersive learning experience. Our trainers have worked in real examination offices and understand the reality of running a summer series – including the unexpected questions, competing priorities and moments when you need to work out what needs doing first.
Your first summer season does not have to feel like a leap into the unknown.
