Acclaimed graphic novelists Gareth Hinds (The Odyssey: A Graphic Novel, The Iliad: A Graphic Novel, The Aeneid: A Graphic Novel), Mike Maihack (The Moonlit Spiral, Cleopatra in Space), and Marker Snyder (First Kiss with Fangs) will be coming to Sullaluna!
Join the trio on October 11, when they’ll be discussing how they fabricate these immersive stories and why kids (and adults) should read more graphic novels!
Illustrator and graphic novelist has been called “sequential art’s most faithful and powerful adaptor of the classics.” His graphic novels include The Odyssey, The Iliad, Poe, Beowulf, King Lear, The Merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet, and Macbeth and are beloved by educators, scholars, and readers of all ages and are popular in classrooms nationwide. A recipient of the Boston Public Library’s Literary Lights for Children award, Gareth lives near Washington, DC.
is the author of the Cleopatra in Space series, which was also made into an animated series. A graduate of the Columbus College of Art & Design, he is also the creator of the popular webcomic Cow & Buffalo and has contributed to books including Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman; Parable; Jim Henson’s The Storyteller; Cow Boy; Geeks, Girls, and Secret Identities; and Comic Book Tattoo. His graphic novel Cleopatra in Space: Target Practice won a Florida Book Award and was a YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers. Mike Maihack lives with his wife, two sons, and Siamese cat down in the humid depths of Florida.
is an illustrator, designer, and graphic artist currently based in Kingston, NY, where he lives in a rainbow house with his husband, two cats, and a very friendly turtle. Formerly a curator and exhibition designer in NYC, he now works primarily on developing illustrated projects for kids—from picture books through middle grade.
