Dr. Beatriz Marin-Aguilera / Prof. Niamh Thorton
About this Event
The World Museum has an extensive Americas Collection that includes creative works by people and communities who have lived in the Americas for thousands of years. Some of the pieces are all that we have left of those people after the ravages of colonialism, whilst those who have survived continue to create and imagine new futures. As part of the University of Liverpool’s annual Iberian and Latin American Week we would like to invite you to learn more about the culture and art of the First Peoples of what is now Mexico, Belize, and Chile. To experience and understand those who left their mark in the past and have a continuing legacy into the present, come join us for an expert talk on the Maya and the Mapuche by Dr Beatriz Marin-Aguilera (Department of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology) and music by Colibrí Mexican Folkdance and Grupo Luma.
Supported by the Instituto Cervantes Manchester.
