About the Festival:
The European Union Office in San Francisco is pleased to launch the 2nd Edition of the festival, Ode to Joy: European CineFest. We are welcoming 16 films representing 17 EU countries in collaboration with Consulates and Cultural organizations. The festival brings together European cinema, culture, creativity, and dialogue in a shared festival experience for Bay Area audiences.
About the Film:
Arménio, an octogenarian and veteran of the Portuguese colonial war, is forced to move into a nursing home, where he meets Hermínia, a Black caregiver who will look after him. Confronted with the vulnerability of old age, Arménio is forced to face the ghosts of his past, while an unexpected friendship blossoms between him and Hermínia.
