About this Event
Espíritu Flamenco is delighted to welcome Julio Ruiz with guest artists Teresa Hernández and José 'El Peli' Muñoz for a special evening of flamenco music, singing and dance.
Julio Ruiz — Flamenco dancer
Julio is a professional flamenco dancer, choreographer and teacher originally from Almería and currently based between Madrid and Paris. He has presented many of his own shows at major festivals including Tocar un Hombre at Sadlers Wells and La Familia at the International Flamenco Festival of Jerez 2026. He was a finalist at the prestigious Festival del Cante de las Minas in 2022. He is the first flamenco ‘bailaor’ to be awarded a residency at the Centre National de la Danse de Paris.
Julio’s style is grounded firmly in traditional flamenco, with the explosive footwork, strength and definition that is typical of this genre. He also brings grace, charm and many moments of elegant sensitivity to his contemporary interpretation of the music.
Teresa Hernández — Cantaora (flamenco singer) & guitarist
Teresa was born in La Línea de la Concepción. She is a flamenco singer, guitarist and composer. Her debut album and first solo show Romances de la voz herida explores her journey of learning and discovering her own voice. Teresa travels across the world accompanying renowned artists such as Eduardo Guerrero, Joaquín Cortés, Antonia Jiménez and José Maldonado, and presented a show at the London Guitar Festival in 2024.
José ‘El Peli’ Muñoz — Flamenco guitarist
José is a guitarist, composer and producer as well as a regular at international flamenco festivals around the world. Originally from Alicante and currently based in Madrid, his first album Me lo sopla el viento is a collaboration with the Malaga-born flamenco singer Al-Blanco. The live album demonstrates his deep understanding of the guitar, his love for flamenco and his contemporary vision of the genre. He toured with Alter Ego, a spectacular show with dancers Alfonso Losa and Patricia Guerrero.
The evening is organised by Sarah Chambers, founder of Manchester-based Espíritu Flamenco, a collective dedicated to bringing authentic live flamenco, workshops and cultural events to venues across the Northwest.
❤️ Whether you're already passionate about flamenco or have never experienced it live before, we invite you to enjoy this evening of live music, dance and the unmistakable spirit of Andalucía.
Bring friends or family and join us for a great night out!
