About this Event
A lifelong Bronx resident, Ira Merritt taught photography for 35 years, including 26 at Manhattan’s High School of Art & Design. His work has earned numerous awards and grants from the Bronx Council on the Arts. His book, Ephemeral Light: Moving through Time, Loss and Renewal in Van Cortlandt Park, brings together written material and photographs of Van Cortlandt Park and is dedicated to the memory of his son, Ben, who passed away in 2023.
This project is made possible with public funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and with funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, both administered by the Bronx Council on the Arts.
