About this Event

Enfolding Design and STS - Book Launch and Conversation

Join Alex Wilkie and Mike Michael to celebrate the launch of Enfolding Design and STS: Events, Aesthetics and Topological Encounters, published by Bloomsbury.

The book explores what happens when design and science and technology studies (STS) encounter one another. How might these encounters change the questions we ask, the methods we use and the possibilities we make available? Rather than treating their relationship as settled, it approaches design and STS as practices whose meetings can generate unexpected connections, tensions and transformations.

Alex and Mike will be joined by Lucy Kimbell, Noortje Marres and Martin Tironi for a conversation about the book and the wider questions it raises for research and practice across design and STS. There will be time for questions and discussion with the audience.

The event welcomes researchers, students, designers and anyone curious about the relationships between design, science, technology and society.
