Easy Honey is a Charleston, SC-based indie rock band that infuses its singer-songwriter folk roots with an original mix of nostalgic East Coast surf rock.
The band's story began at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, where an ordinary freshman year conversation over a punch-filled cooler sparked the formation of Easy Honey. Since then, the chemistry between the band members has become one of their defining strengths, fueling an unmistakable energy and genuine camaraderie that shines both onstage and off.
That connection is on full display throughout Plaid, the band's EP via Third Brother Records, which was written and recorded during a three-day session at an isolated cabin in snowy Marble, Colorado. The project showcases the collaborative spirit of band members Selby Austin (vocals, guitar), Darby McGlone (vocals, guitar), Charlie Holt (drums, vocals), and Webster Austin (bass, vocals).
Mixed by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Phoenix, The Kooks) the five-song collection expands Easy Honey's beachy indie-pop sound with fresh textures, clever melodies, catchy hooks, and lyrics that reflect on love, wistfulness, and the moments that shape us.
Like many of their rock heroes, Easy Honey have cut their teeth on the road, building a devoted following through extensive touring and sold-out shows. Their influences are just as wide-ranging, drawing from classic rock and power-pop staples like Big Star and Neil Young to '90s alternative favorites Blind Melon and indie innovators like Dr. Dog. In the studio, they bring honest songwriting to masterful production, while their live show is a rollercoaster of urgent indie rock anthems, impromptu jams, and heartfelt sing along moments.
