Description:
In the morning we shall walk northwards across the Common and then partly down the southern side of the Golden Valley to examine the underlying rock sequence and its effect on the landscape. Lunch will be taken at (or outside) the Old Lodge.
In the afternoon we will walk southwards across the common towards Box and the Nailsworth valley, where we will again look at the rock sequence and its effect on the landscape.
Although there are some steep slopes, the walk will almost all be along well-defined paths, tracks and roads. We will be visiting several old quarries, some in private gardens by special permission of their owners.
This walk is free, but the Festival relies on kind donations to ensure its future. For more information on how to support and to donate, click here
