Sign up to our face-to-face breastfeeding workshop to prepare for breastfeeding your new baby.
We recommend that you attend from 34 weeks pregnant. Booking is essential if you wish to attend.
Please book TWO tickets per couple & please cancel your ticket promptly if no longer required, so that someone else can take your space.
The session will be held in the Gynaecology Clinic area via the scan department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, first floor, women services.
The workshop will be facilitated by a member of our Infant Feeding Team. We will talk through the benefits of breastfeeding and the practicalities of breastfeeding your new baby.
This workshop will benefit mothers/birthing people (birth partners are welcome) who are considering breastfeeding their first baby, as well as experienced mothers who may have had problems breastfeeding previously, or may never had breastfed before. The best time to attend the workshop is during the third trimester. The workshop allows plenty of time for practical tips and questions, giving you an in- depth knowledge to support you on your breastfeeding journey and includes:
- The importance of skin to skin contact, brain development and forming a close and loving relationship with your baby
- Tips to a successful breastfeeding journey
- How to know your baby is getting enough milk
- Positioning and attachment
- Responsive feeding
- Safe sleeping
- Expressing breast milk
This workshop is face to face. Please allow time for parking if you are coming by car. The class will begin at 6 pm and lasts approximately two hours.
The course aims to be an interactive with space for you to ask questions and actively participate.
