Discover how discarded cotton textiles can be transformed into handmade paper.
About this Event

What if an old cotton garment could become something completely new?

Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring how post-consumer cotton textiles can be broken down into fibre and transformed into handmade, paper-like material.

Old jeans could be transformed into one-of-a-kind, sustainable cards, gift tags and decorations for the holidays.

Led by textile artist and educator Kathleen Morris, participants will learn an accessible, low-tech process for preparing textile fibres, creating a pulp using a natural starch-based binder, forming sheets, and experimenting with new possibilities for discarded fabric.

Along the way, we’ll consider the environmental impact of textile waste and discover creative approaches to reuse that can be explored on a small, community scale.

No previous experience is required. All materials and tools will be provided.

This workshop is open to adults and youth.

Free admission; advance registration is required.

Space is limited to 15 participants. Please register only if you are able to attend. If your plans change, kindly cancel your ticket so someone else can participate.

The November 21 and November 28 workshops are identical. Please register for one date only.
