Diwali at Republic
Come together to celebrate Diwali with two creative workshops.
Take part in a two-hour group workshop creating a large-scale rangoli artwork, painting together in acrylic paint. Rangoli is a traditional Indian folk art of colourful decorative patterns made on floors and surfaces.
Alongside this, join a music and singing workshop covering the basics of music, with movement woven into the session.
About the artists
The rangoli workshop is led by Trapped in Zone One, a Tower Hamlets-based creative organisation running mixed-medium visual arts workshops that bring people together through creativity. trappedinzoneone.com
The music and singing workshop is led by Divya Dayal, an Indian music professional with 25 years of university teaching experience, who also delivers educational and wellbeing programmes in community and corporate settings. She is joined by a dance instructor from Beeja, bringing movement into the singing.
