Explore dirty talk through playful exercises, with a focus on consent, communication, boundaries and finding words that feel right for you.About this Event
How do you tell someone what you want without dying of embarrassment? What if you want to try dirty talk but have absolutely no idea what to say? And how do you introduce it without assuming your partner is into the same things you are?
Dirty talk can be playful, intimate, ridiculous, vulnerable, incredibly hot... and sometimes very awkward.
In this two-hour workshop, Amelia Hilton will help us take some of the pressure out of talking sexy. We’ll explore what dirty talk actually is, why some people love it (and others really don’t), and how we can find language that feels exciting and authentic rather than like we’re reading from somebody else’s script.
Running throughout the workshop will be a focus on consent and communication. Rather than springing a new word, fantasy or power dynamic on somebody in the middle of sex, we’ll think about ways to explore what turns us and our partners on, communicate boundaries, give each other useful feedback and make space for a genuine no, yes or maybe.
What will we do?
Through games, conversation and low-pressure creative exercises, we’ll explore some of the different ingredients that can make up dirty talk: from anticipation, narration and praise to asking, teasing, tone of voice and power dynamics.
We’ll look at why dirty talk can sometimes make our brains hit the brakes (“What if I sound ridiculous?”, “What if I say the wrong thing?”, “What am I actually supposed to SAY?”) and experiment with ways to build confidence gradually.
You’ll play with language, write flirty texts, explore how changing your tone can completely change the meaning of the same words, and start identifying your own yucks, yums and maybes.
The workshop has deliberately been designed so that practising communication skills doesn’t require you to disclose your own sexual preferences. Practical exercises will stay at the lower end of the workshop’s intensity scale and focus on things like kissing and non-genital touch. There will also be opportunities to submit questions anonymously.
You can participate at the level that feels right for you. Nobody will be expected to share personal sexual experiences, reveal what they are into or use sexual language they aren’t comfortable with.
Come by yourself, with a partner, or just because you're curious.
