About this Event
Join us for Dance & Heritage!
Atlanta is now recognized as one of the world’s capitals of hip-hop. Yet the history of this culture is part of a much broader continuum of Afro-diasporic dances that have crossed the Atlantic for centuries.
Through a conversation between French Jazz dance and movement educator Dorothée Rechenberg (Intermission Atlanta) and Atlanta-based hip-hop historian and dancer Nicholas Sapp and drummer and Villa Albertine Artist-In-Residence Blanche LaFuente, this program explores how bodies tell history, create social connections, and contribute to individual and collective well-being.
The event will combine historical storytelling, dance demonstrations, musical improvisation, and an interactive movement experience for participants.
