Join us to know more about our vision to tackle human trafficking in Scotland, what we do, and how you can contribute to it!
About this Event

SOHTIS’ values of Compassion, Respect, Dignity, and Justice form the compass of our intervention to create change and free victims from human trafficking and exploitation. For SOHTIS, human rights are at the core of everything we do. Participating in the first Scotland Human Rights Festival (taking place on 9th-13th of December) reiterates our vision - a Scotland free from human trafficking and exploitation where everyone lives in freedom with dignity and respect…and we need your support!

Join us on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th of December in shedding light on the lived experiences and voices of survivors of human trafficking! We are proud to create a space where raising awareness about human trafficking meets with creativity.

Creativity and the arts are recognised as fundamental human rights. The event will be creative and experiential whilst also informative. Through weaving and reflecting, you will have the opportunity to witness stories of survivors’ recovery and understand how the support from the community is essential in recovery, alongside advocacy and mental health support.

You will not be able to join us in person but would like to contribute to our mission on your own time? Visit our online shop where you can find various items including a weaving kit.

How you can reach us:

By tram: tram stops West End or Princes Street, around 10 minutes walking distance.

By bus: multiple connections from across Edinburgh to Princes Street bus stops. Due to winter attraction, part of George Street will be closed to traffic and parking.

By train: Edinburgh Waverley Station or Haymarket are the closest train stations.

Accessibility information:

Location: the event will take place in a step-free room located on a street-level. The space is wheelchair accessible, with a lift right outside the room. Please, get in touch with any queries about accessibility and we will be happy to do our best to meet your needs.

During your visit, the information will be shared in printed and digital form on a screen. You will also have the opportunity to use creativity and art materials if you want to. You are welcome to participate and stay with us for as long as you like. An art therapist and other SOHTIS team members will be there to assist you with any queries.

Should you have any further queries, feel free to reach out to [email protected]
