Understand how you can be affected by working with people who have experienced trauma, and learn practical ways to protect your wellbeing.
About this Event

You will learn how to:

  • Recognise the impact of trauma-exposed work
  • Notice signs of stress and overload
  • Work in ways that preserve your wellbeing while remaining compassionate and engaged

What the workshop will cover:
  • We provide clear insights and practical tools to support trauma-informed working that supports your own and other people’s wellbeing.
  • We will help participants understand how people are affected by traumatic or adverse experiences. We provide clear insights and practical tools to support trauma-informed working that supports your own and other people’s wellbeing.
  • We will help participants understand how people are affected by traumatic or adverse experiences.
  • We’ll help you learn about and plan how to look after yourself when working with people who are affected by trauma, and how to engage with people who have experienced trauma in a safe, effective and appropriately boundaried way.
  • We will help you recognise that any of us can be affected by trauma, and that you do not need to know whether a person has experienced trauma, or what they have experienced, to work with them in a trauma-informed way that protects your own and their wellbeing.

Who this is for:

This workshop is for anyone in a role that involves working with people who have experienced traumatic or adverse life events.

Your role may involve supporting service users (such as case workers) or colleagues (such as managers and HR professionals). Your work may expose you to details of trauma – such as hearing about people’s experiences, but this workshop is also relevant to people who do not hear about trauma details, but who engage with others whose difficult experiences affect how they respond to situations and to other people.

The session is tailored to the voluntary sector, but the learning will be applicable to others in similar settings.
