About this Event
Join LUSH Valley and Jules Matthews for a Community Kitchen where you'll learn how to turn garden-fresh jalapeños into sweet, spicy, and irresistibly delicious Cowboy Candy!
Cowboy Candy, also known as candied jalapeños, is a favourite preserve that strikes the perfect balance between heat and sweetness. These versatile peppers add a flavourful kick to sandwiches, burgers, charcuterie boards, salads, and more.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of safe water-bath canning while creating a batch of Cowboy Candy to bring home and enjoy throughout the year.

Jules Matthews is a musician and music teacher, beekeeper, quilter, artist and cat-servant who thrives on yard and house projects. For almost 30 years, she has saved seeds, canned, pressure canned, dehydrated, fermented, cooked and eaten her own home-grown food! Jules learned the value of food security when she became a young mom, and now grows a large percentage of what her family consumes every year, including meat that she raises and processes at home.
Please note: Bursaries are available for this workshop. If the cost of this workshop is a barrier for you in attending, please send us an email at [email protected].
