About this Event
Chisenhale Art Place warmly welcomes you to a Community View at Chisenhale Gallery, as part of our Autumn/Winter Community Events Programme.
This event will be an opportunity to come together, connect with one another, and celebrate our community.
We’ll also be sharing images from events and activities that have taken place throughout the year, reflecting on the creativity, connections and experiences we’ve shared.
Everyone is welcome to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and take part in a relaxed, creative activity open to all ages.
Chisenhale Art Place brings together three initiatives: two independent arts organisations - Chisenhale Dance Space and Chisenhale Gallery - and Chisenhale Studios, home to 40 artist studios. Throughout the year, we collaborate on exhibitions, performances, workshops, and open studios that engage and inspire our community.

Kibuuka Omumbaale, is a major new video commission and the first UK exhibition by Kampala-based collective Wakaliga Uganda. The exhibition introduces a subversive take on the superhero action film, through which the artists explore the spiritual heritage of Kibuuka Omumbaale, a warrior-god of the Kingdom of Buganda. Made collaboratively with the Wakaliga community using bricolaged methods, the video follows the entanglement of Kibuuka’s sacred remains with histories of British colonialism, and the inheritances of power that arise through their confrontation with contemporary society.
This video commission runs for 40 minutes on a loop.

Directions
Chisenhale Art Place is located halfway between Bethnal Green and Mile End Underground Stations. Walk from Bethnal Green station in 12 minutes or take No. 8 or D6 bus towards Bow Church or Isle of Dogs. Walk from Mile End station in 10 minutes or take No. 277, 425, 339 or D6 bus from Grove Road heading towards Victoria Park.
Cycling
We have some bike racks for cyclists to lock up their bikes. But please remember to lock your bike securely, ideally using two quality locks to secure each wheel and the frame to the racks. Sadly, bike thefts in London are not a rarity and Chisenhale Road is no exception.
Parking
Pay and display parking bays are available on Chisenhale Road. There is more pay and display parking on Kenilworth Road, Vivian Road and Zealand Road which run off Chisenhale Road.
Accessibility
Chisenhale Gallery is on our ground floor and has step-free access.
We want events at Chisenhale Art Place to be accessible for all, and for everyone to feel welcome and included at our events. We acknowledge the limitations of the building we are in, and would be happy to discuss any ways that we can help you access our activities.
If you would like to discuss your visit please email [email protected]
