What is Nerikomi?
Nerikomi is a beautiful Japanese pottery technique that combines different colours of clay to create unique patterns within the clay itself. By layering, shaping, and cutting the clay, you’ll discover how to create your own one-of-a-kind designs.
What you’ll make
Get hands-on and experiment with coloured clays in brown, black, and white, along with two clay mixes
You’ll learn how to:
- Mix and layer different clays to create beautiful patterns.
- Cut through the clay to reveal your unique designs.
- Shape and create your own pottery pieces.
- Make multiple pieces, such as plates, platters, tiles, or small appetizer dishes.
Whether you’re making something special for your home or a handmade Christmas gift, you’ll leave with your own creative designs in the making.
Come solo or bring your friends for a fun, creative morning with clay!
Workshop Details
- Date: Saturday, 5 December 2026
- Time: 10:00–13:00 (3 hours)
- Location: Atelier Kleie Studio, Amsterdam West
- Suitable for: Beginners — no experience needed!
- Firing and pickup: Your pieces will be fired after the workshop and ready for collection approximately two weeks later, just in time for the holidays.
