Beat the January blues with a Colmore Taster Tour! Join Birmingham Colmore for a series of foodie evenings throughout January, celebrating the fantastic restaurants, pubs and bars on our doorstep.
Whether you're looking for a unique Christmas gift, a fun evening out with friends or colleagues, or simply an excuse to try somewhere new, these guided tasting tours are a brilliant way to discover Birmingham's vibrant food and drink scene.
Each tour features three fantastic venues, with a taster dish and a drink at every stop. Members of the Birmingham Colmore team will be joining you along the way, sharing their local knowledge and introducing you to some of the brilliant hospitality businesses that make Colmore such a great place to eat, drink and spend time.
Our Pub Grub tour celebrates classic pub favourites, with three venues serving up delicious dishes and drinks to warm up your January. Vegan and non-alcoholic options are available, so there's something for everyone.
Your evening itinerary
5:30pm–6:15pm | The Royal
Join us at The Royal for a comforting British classic: mini fish and chips featuring river cobbler in crispy golden batter, fluffy chips and moreish katsu curry sauce. Prefer a plant-based option? Enjoy crunchy shiitake mushroom tacos with slaw and Ballymaloe relish.

6:15pm–7:00pm | The Queens Head
Discover The Queens Head, a traditional British pub with a rich Birmingham heritage, owned by the city's oldest brewery, Davenports. Tuck into their exclusive Guinness Burger, featuring British beef patties, cheddar, Guinness caramelised onions and Guinness glaze, served with fries. The vegan alternative is a Bhaji Burger with spinach and chickpea bhaji, gem lettuce and curried mayonnaise in a vegan brioche bun, also served with fries.
To drink, try a Guinness Martini, a twist on the classic Espresso Martini, or opt for a draught soft drink.

7:00pm–7:45pm | Newhall Street Tavern
Finish at Newhall Street Tavern, a lively bar combining New York-style pizza, signature cocktails and interactive shuffleboard. Enjoy a slice of The New Yorker, topped with Italian sausage, meatballs, wood-roasted peppers and pecorino, or try the mushroom pizza with truffle cream, wild mushrooms, garlic and mozzarella. Vegan cheese is available on request.
Pair your pizza with a pint, a glass of house wine or a spritz, with soft drinks and alcohol-free alternatives also available.
