ABOUT Avanti Guitar Trio

The Avanti Guitar Trio is an exciting chamber ensemble whose performances are approachable, and welcoming. Guitarists Amy Brucksch, Julie Goldberg and Christopher Teves blend pristine technique and nuanced musical interpretations, earning critical acclaim for their captivating concerts and varied programming.

Avanti's vast repertoire ranges from Baroque to Contemporary, features newly composed music, creative transcriptions of classical masterpieces, plus an occasional rock/pop or jazz tune.

Amy, Julie, and Chris met while studying at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Clare Callahan. Each has gone on to pursue active careers in performance, composition, and teaching. All relish their time together collaborating and performing as a national touring ensemble.

Formed in 2010, the Avanti Guitar Trio continues to expand their inspiring repertoire by composing/transcribing new works and collaborating with both established and upcoming composers.

Amy Brucksch:

Classical guitarist Amy Brucksch celebrates the guitar’s rich heritage, exploring musical connections with musicians as diverse as Celtic fiddlers, Baroque harpsichordists, African percussionists, and western NC’s first ever melodica band, One Road Over. She has a highly regarded CD, Luminescence, with flutist Kate Steinbeck and performed for many years with Pan Harmonia, a chamber music collective based in Asheville, NC. Her current collaborations include Trio Tapestry (violin, cello and guitar) and The Treblemakers, a genre-bending trio that explores new sounds for guitar with effects processors, synthesizers and melodicas! Passionate about sharing her love for the instrument, she currently teaches classical guitar to over 100 middle and high school students at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy.

A former faculty member of the University of Toledo and Ohio Arts Council Touring Artist, her music degrees are from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Bowling Green State University. Amy lives in Tryon, NC and plays a guitar custom made for her by luthier Gregory Byers.

Julie Goldberg:
Named Guitarist of the year by Classical Guitar Alive, internationally-broadcast radio program, Julie Goldberg is the first guitarist to receive a Doctorate in Music Performance from Northwestern University, and holds degrees from the Chicago Musical College, and College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Julie has performed solo recitals in New York, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Michigan and Washington, D.C. and has been featured on the internationally known Dame Myra Hess Concert Series. Dr. Goldberg is on the faculty of North Park University and VanderCook College of Music. She is a guest artist at the Interlochen Music Academy, CCM Summer Guitar Workshop, Wisconsin Center for Music Education, Illinois Music Education Association, Mid-America Guitar Ensemble Festival and Michigan Music Conference. Over seas she has taught master-classes at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Hanoi and the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. She recently co-authored the book, 100 Classical Guitar Lessons, which is published by Hal Leonard. Her educational guitar ensemble compositions are published by Guitar Chamber Music Press. Julie lives in Chicago, Il., and plays a guitar custom made for her by luthier Richard Brune.

Christopher Teves:
