Charlie Chaplin Modern idők című alkotása nemcsak a filmtörténet egyik legnagyobb klasszikusa – Chaplin zeneszerzői tehetségének is kivételes bizonyítéka. A lírai, humoros és sodró lendületű zene ezen a koncerten élő szimfonikus zenekari előadásban kel életre. Bár a Modern időket gyakran a némafilmek közé sorolják, ez nem teljesen állja meg a helyét: a fináléban maga Chaplin énekli el a legendás, halandzsa nyelven megszólaló Nonsense Songot (Titine) – a Kis Csavargó hangját ekkor hallhatta először a közönség. A szimfonikus filmkoncert így egyszerre idézi meg a némafilm varázsát és a hangosfilm hajnalának egyik legemlékezetesebb pillanatát. Az előadás karmestere Tompa Ábel, a fiatal magyar karmestergeneráció egyik legizgalmasabb képviselője, aki ezúttal a Danubia Zenekart vezeti majd.A vetítés előtt rövid bevezetőt hallhat a közönség a filmről és zenéjéről Kurutz Márton filmtörténész előadásában.

Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times is not only one of the greatest classics in film history – it is also exceptional proof of the legendary comic actor’s talent as a composer. On this occasion his lyrical, humorous and dynamic score will come to life in a live performance by a symphony orchestra. Although Modern Times is often classified as a silent film, this is not entirely accurate: in the finale, Chaplin himself sings the legendary Nonsense Song (“Titine”) in gibberish. It was the first time audiences ever heard the voice of the Little Tramp. This symphonic film concert thus simultaneously evokes the magic of silent cinema and one of the most memorable moments from the dawn of the sound era. Leading the Danubia Orchestra will be Ábel Tompa, one of the most exciting representatives of the young generation of Hungarian conductors.
Before the screening film historian Márton Kurutz will present a brief introduction to the film and its music.
The talk will be conducted in Hungarian.
