About the Artists:

As autumn envelops the city in its colors, Argentine singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso Cecilia Zabala comes to Brooklyn and brings us her “hypnotic” South American voice, which transcends genres. Her show “Colors of the South” is a celebration of the rich musical heritage of Latin America, interpreted with sensitivity and virtuosity. In each performance, Zabala fuses elements of Latin American folklore with contemporary influences, creating a unique soundscape that reflects both her roots and her innovative creativity. She invites the audience to take a journey through diverse styles and rhythms, from milongas and tangos to zambas and chacareras with compositions and arrangements that highlight the beauty and depth of the music of the south of the continent, while introducing personal and modern touches. This show promises to be an intimate and moving experience in which music serves as a cultural bridge, showcasing the universality of human emotions through melodies and rhythms that transcend borders.

Martina Liviero will be the guest artist. She is a New York City–based composer, guitarist, and vocalist originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a two-time ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award recipient (2019, 2020) and won the 2019 JEN Young Jazz Composer Showcase Award. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music in Jazz Composition, she also received the Thad Jones and Toshiko Akiyoshi Awards. Her work blends contemporary chamber music and large ensemble jazz with Argentinian and South American influences, and she has performed extensively at venues including Rockwood Music Hall, Regatta Bar, Berklee Performance Center, and The Lilypad.
