Building Safer Facades after Grenfell - a Talk from Peter Apps

Peter Apps comes to Material Source studio in Manchester as a guest of Shackerley Facade Systems to give a talk based on his best-selling and award winning book about the Grenfell disaster 'Show Me the Bodies'. A respected journalist, Peter broke a story about the dangers of combustible cladding just a month before the Grenfell disaster, and in his book, he shares stories of those affected, along with technical knowledge and the political and policy backdrop that contributed to the disaster.

Learn more about:

• Key lessons from Grenfell for architects and specifiers.
• The impact of the Building Safety Act on design, specification and accountability.
• The role of façade material selection in building and fire safety.
• How to assess product safety, certification and manufacturers’ claims.
• The future challenges shaping safe, resilient housing, from decarbonisation to climate change.

This informal event will combine a talk from Peter Apps with the opportunity to network with colleagues and peers from the facades, construction and architectural community, and ask questions of the Shackerley team. Entry is from 11.30 and there will be a light lunch and networking after the event until 2pm.
