About this Event
This is a two-day class. Each session is 3 hours long and will begin at the same start time on both days.
Build Your Own Belt Knife
Join Tony Bones of Lockjaw Knives for a hands-on class where you’ll design and build your own simple belt knife from flat steel.
This class uses the stock removal method, meaning you’ll start with bar stock and remove material to shape the blade rather than forging it into shape. Across the two sessions, you’ll cut, grind, heat treat, and assemble your knife while learning the fundamentals of knife making.
What You'll Learn
- Designing and laying out a simple knife
- Cutting a knife blank from bar stock
- Shaping a knife on the bandsaw and 2×72 belt grinder
- Rough grinding blade bevels
