The British Trombone Society is very excited to share details of the event we have planned to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Society. Performances and classes will be given by our featured artists, including: Audun Breen, Trombones and Tuba of the Royal Opera House, Callum Au, Matthew Gee, John Kenny, Helen Vollam, Tracy Holloway, Emily White, Bones Apart Trombone Quartet, Pandora’s Box, and the Guildhall Trombone Ensemble. There will be an intercollegiate trombone choir led by John Kenny that will explore a spatial work by Stewart Dempster, and a massed sackbut ensemble led by Emily White.
The whole day will be a celebration of 40 years of the BTS and the amazing community of people who have made the Society what it is today. Of course there will the usual Massed Ensemble for everyone to join in. We’ll be playing a specially composed fanfare to mark the occasion, with parts adapted so that even the youngest players can participate. The early evening Gala Concert will conclude with everyone playing Eric Crees’ arrangement of ‘76 Trombones’ from the London Trombone Sound album. It promises to be a blast!
There’s also an after-event party at The Artillery Arms pub up the road (102 Bunhill Row, EC1Y 8ND) - we’ve booked a room upstairs for a jam session and anyone is welcome to join in.
