We're kicking off our young people enterprise programme next week, which is a three week course where young people can upskill, get cv support, and leave with an accreditation in social media branding and marketing .This is completely free of charge and for young people aged 16-25.

The programme has been designed to ensure participants develop practical employability skills, gain meaningful employment experiences, engage with industry professionals, and progress towards Education, Employment or Training (EET).
Participants will:
- Complete employability, confidence, and motivation assessments.
- Develop individual action and career plans.
- Participate in workshops covering communication, teamwork, CV writing, interview preparation, and professional behaviour.
- Explore career pathways within retail, creative industries, enterprise, and digital sectors.
- Meet professionals from different industries through employer talks and networking sessions.
By the end of Week 1, all participants will have begun their career plans and gained insight into a range of professions.
Week 2: Industry Exposure and Work Experience
Participants will access meaningful employment experiences through:
- Workplace visits to local employers and businesses.
- Work shadowing opportunities with professionals in retail, property, marketing, and business environments.
- Shadowing independent traders and entrepreneurs operating market stalls to understand sales, customer engagement, and business management.
- Insight sessions with professionals working in corporate retail head offices, including marketing, operations, finance, and buying functions.
- Employer-led workshops focusing on customer service, teamwork, and workplace expectations.
This week will ensure participants meet the programme's work experience and industry engagement outcomes.
Week 3: Enterprise in Practice
Participants will apply their learning through practical enterprise activities, including:
Developing a business idea or social enterprise project.
Conducting market research and budgeting.
Designing marketing materials and social media campaigns.
Planning and operating a small trading activity, market stall, or pop-up event.
Managing stock, finances, and customer engagement.
Reflecting on teamwork and business performance.
Young people who do not wish to trade directly can undertake roles in marketing, operations, finance, content creation, or event management, ensuring every participant develops practical workplace skills.
- Complete their accredited qualification.
- Undertake mock interviews and progression workshops.
- Finalise their CVs and personal action plans.
- Receive one-to-one careers guidance and progression support.
- Complete post-programme self-assessment surveys.
- Present their learning at a final showcase event attended by employers, families, and stakeholders.
