This Sunday, September 27th from 2-5 is the debut performance of the Brenda Earle Stokes New Quartet at Maud's Variety in Mitton Village, Sarnia.
We just rehearsed yesterday and the band is HOT!
This group features some of the most accomplished jazz musicians in this area.
Guitarist Torrie Seager is a fellow Sarnian born-and-bred who was a top call guitarist in Toronto for many years before moving back home to Sarnia. He has such an amazing sound and the guy can read anything!
Bassist Andy Lloyd is Port Huron-based but has been coming over to Ontario for years to play both jazz, Broadway shows and classical (with the International Symphony) and is so versatile in so many styles.
Windsor-based Drummer Kevin Venney plays a huge range of music, playing in some of the top Windsor/Detroit wedding bands, but he's most at home playing jazz.
Brenda Earle Stokes spent over 20 years as a mainstay of the New York City Jazz scene where she played with a who's who of modern jazz celebrities. She has toured all over the world as a leader and sidemusician and released 7 critically acclaimed albums. Her virtuostic piano skills, expressive voice and unique repertoire of music make her a must-see performer!
