About this Event

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh's choir is growing, and we want you to be a part of it!

Sign up for our 2026 autumn term and join our community.

What?

This is a fun, friendly choir of people who care about plants, singing about plants. From the freshest folk to the silkiest soul, we delve into a repertoire of plant-based songs over the course of a term. Expect songs about hibernation, new growth and the importance of plant life.

Who?

Botanics Choir is for everyone, including the general public, community groups, Botanics members, volunteers, students and staff.

From choir enthusiasts to first-time singers, all are welcome. No singing experience is required and you do not need to audition or read sheet music. Parts will be taught in person each week.

When?

The autumn 2026 term starts on Tuesday 8 September and runs until Tuesday 8 December (see the full schedule under Agenda). Recordings will be shared, so no need to worry if you miss a week.

Where?

Botanics Choir meets in the Botanics' Lecture Theatre in the Science Buildings, accessed via the Main Reception, 20a Inverleith Row, Edinburgh EH3 5LR. This is not a public entrance and located further north along Inverleith Row from the East Gate. A member of staff will be at reception to direct you on the first day of term.

There is bus stop nearby for the following services: 8, 9, 23 and 27.

Accessibility

We are committed to ensuring that Botanics Choir is an inclusive and welcoming space. The Lecture Theatre is wheelchair accessible and an accessible toilet is available nearby. Lyrics are available in alternative formats including large print on request and recordings are available online.

Please let us know your requirements when you register or contact us directly at [email protected] to discuss further.

Ticket types

You can book for the full term (8 September - 8 December) or the initial half term (8 September - 6 October). If you book for the first half term, you will be able to book for the second half term (27 October - 8 December) after the first half term starts.

Each ticket works out at £6/£5 per session. Discounted tickets are available for Botanics' members, staff, volunteers and students.

As a registered charity, every ticket purchased helps support the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh’s mission through science and research to explore, conserve and explain the world of plants.
