Disability, Education and International Development: A Social Justice Approach
How can the international development community (IDC) promote sustainable education of good quality for learners with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries (LAMIC)?
This presentation will discuss a recently published book which assesses the work of IDC in this field and identify ways it can work more effectively. The presentation will begin by providing an overview of educational realities for learners with disabilities in LAMIC before discussing two types of donor-funded intervention – system-strengthening and pedagogical reform.
The session will be of interest to ESSRG members since it also draws upon Guy’s doctoral research and university teaching in Papua New Guinea.
As the book is an Open Access publication, it can be downloaded from the Bristol University Press website.
