About this Event
Co-created by Romana Lee-Akiyama and Michelle Myers, The Black + Gold Artists Exchange concludes with an exhibition that celebrates their year-long fellowship. Throughout 2026, four Philadelphia artists were invited to explore intersections between Black American and Asian American histories, identities, and communities in Philadelphia, through their creative practice.
The fellowship brings together artists Gina Kim, Kara Mshinda, Anula Shetty, and Marquis Wright-Lee for an exchange centered on conversation and relationship-building. Co-curated by Romana Lee-Akiyama and Michelle Myers, with Nina Elizabeth “Lyrispect” Ball serving as co-facilitator, the Black + Gold Artists Exchange will culminate in public pop-up exhibitions and programs from at Asian Arts Initiative and Painted Bride Art Center.
Join us to celebrate their work at the exhibition opening reception on Friday November 13th from 6p-8p, with themed drinks, merch, and more!
