What does it mean to stand up for artistic freedom in the face of political repression?Georgian filmmakers and a representative of Tbilisi’s legendary underground techno club Bassiani come together to discuss resistance through art, film and rave culture. As Georgia’s independent cultural scene faces growing political pressure, filmmakers are boycotting state institutions, while creative communities continue to fight for freedom of expression and safe spaces. From film sets to dancefloors, this conversation explores how art and collective action can become powerful forms of solidarity and resistance, and what Georgian and Hungarian independent artists can learn from each other.
The discussion will be followed by the screening of Tiku Kobiashvili’s Inner Blooming Springs (Berlinale 2025, 43 min, Georgian with English subtitles).
