Behind the Scenes: Discovering Tavistock’s Heritage with DBR
Join DBR Limited for a behind-the-scenes look at the conservation and restoration work taking place in Tavistock as part of the Rediscovering Tavistock initiative.
Across the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the project, explore two of Tavistock’s historic buildings, Betsy Grimbal's Tower and The Still House, and see traditional masonry skills being demonstrated by our specialist team.
What to expect
The visit will begin with a short induction, followed by an introduction to the project and the work currently taking place.
You’ll then be taken on a guided tour of Betsy Grimbal and The Still House, learning more about the buildings, their historic fabric and the conservation work being undertaken.
The tour will also include a live demonstration of traditional masonry techniques, including:
- Pointing
- Tending
- Rebuilding
Our team will explain the materials, methods and specialist skills involved in repairing historic masonry and maintaining the character of these important buildings.
There will then be an opportunity to ask questions and speak directly with members of the team during a Q&A session.
To finish, we’ll introduce you to DBR Limited, what we do and the specialist conservation and restoration work we undertake across historic buildings and sites.
