About this Event
Join us for the premiere of Baon: Stories and Struggles of Filipino Migrants, followed by a conversation featuring the filmmaker, Rachel Bundoc Lucero.
Baon (Tagalog, ‘food packed from home’) takes host and activist Rachel Lucero (The Sago Show) into the kitchen with migrant Filipinos in the San Francisco Bay Area to share meals that remind them of home. With each dish, Rachel hears each person’s experience struggling for change: from her mom’s memories running towards bullets to overthrow the corrupt Marcos dictatorship to workers protecting the rights and welfare of undocumented migrants. Learn more from Lucero in a special conversation following the screening.
Baon: Stories and Struggles of Filipino Migrants is supported by a grant from the San Francisco Arts Commission.
