Our Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Course is designed for youth ages 11–15 and gives them the practical skills, confidence and knowledge they need to safely care for younger children.This is more than just a babysitting course. With a strong focus on first aid and emergency preparedness, participants learn what to do when things don’t go as planned, while also developing the responsibility and leadership skills that come with caring for children.
What participants will learn:
• How to be responsible and demonstrate leadership
• How to make good decisions and manage challenging behaviours
• Children’s developmental stages and age-appropriate care
• How to safely feed, diaper, dress and play with babies and children
• How to recognize and prevent unsafe situations
• How to respond to emergencies and provide first aid
• How to promote themselves and get started as a babysitter
• The basics of running babysitting as a small business
Included with the course:
• Canadian Red Cross Babysitter’s Manual
• Canadian Red Cross certificate
