Directed Open Studio Afternoons with Susan Ballantine!
These are afternoons for working on an instructor designed painting project. Drop in after school or come right at the start, and work at your own pace with guidance!
Learn about all the different mediums, tools, styles, and basic techniques that come together to make a well designed painting.
Projects will focus on beginner friendly paintings and participants will gain confidence and inspiration to create!

Price: $20 + GST | Fees
*All supplies will be provided, however participants are welcome to bring any extra supplies they'd like to use!
About the Instructor:
Susan Ballantine's art is inspired by the world around her, the changing seasons, and the beauty and energy found in everyday moments. She's drawn to movement, color, texture, and the emotional connection created through the creative process. She often takes her own photographs as reference, allowing her to capture and reinterpret places, landscapes, and moments that inspire her.
Susan works primarily in oil, acrylic, and mixed-media collage, exploring layering, texture, and expressive movement to create engaging and contemporary works. Her artistic practice is self-taught and continues to evolve through ongoing workshops, experimentation, and instructional art books. She believes in continually learning and exploring new techniques while developing her own visual voice.
Susan currently serves on the board of the Calgary Community Painters Society, where she is also the Program Director and facilitator for pop-up shows. She is a member of the Calgary Creative Arts Guild and a full member of Route 22 Art Gallery, where she teaches paint nights, workshops, and facilitate daytime classes.
