Improving Me is Celebrating ten Years with a family celebration event of music, photography and performance for Baby Week!
About this Event
Making it Loud at Liverpool Central Library!
Celebrating ten years of Improving Me – with music, art, family fun and community connection!

Come along and celebrate Baby Week 2026 with us on Saturday 21 November, from 10am to 3pm, at Liverpool Central Library.

We're bringing together families, babies, children, artists, musicians and community organisations for a wonderful day of FREE activities celebrating women's health, family wellbeing and the joy of being together.

This year is particularly special as Improving Me – NHS Cheshire and Merseyside's Women's Health and Maternity Programme – celebrates ten years of innovation, supporting women, babies and families across the region.

Whether you're expecting a baby, have young children, are a grandparent, carer or simply want to enjoy some uplifting music, everyone is welcome!

What can you enjoy on the day?

Live music, lullabies and community choirs

Enjoy performances celebrating the power of music to bring people together, featuring:

  • Liverpool Signing Choir – an inclusive choir bringing deaf and hearing people together through British Sign Language and song.
  • Live Music Now Lullaby musicians – sharing beautiful, personal lullabies created with mothers and families as part of Improving Me's award-recognised Lullaby programme.
  • Liverpool Show Choir – spreading the joy of community singing with their wonderful motto, Sing Yourself Happy!

There will also be free family music resources to discover and enjoy at home, including videos, musical activities and recorded performances.

The Liverpool Milk Trail – a brand-new family adventure!

Join us at 10am for the launch of the Liverpool Milk Trail, created by artist Lisa Creagh and The Holding Time Project with support from Improving Me.

Pick up your FREE illustrated trail map and explore ten welcoming locations across Liverpool city centre, including museums, galleries, cathedrals and family-friendly public spaces.

Along the way you can:

  • Discover places where parents are welcome to rest, feed their babies and spend time together.
  • Listen to moving audio stories from local mothers using QR codes.
  • Take part in the children's Milk Trail Round Challenge, collecting letters to reveal a secret word.
  • Explore Liverpool at your own pace, with no set route or time limit.

The Milk Trail is designed to be enjoyed long after Baby Week has finished.

Photography, creativity and family activities

There will also be a family photo shoot and activities celebrating motherhood, wellbeing and community connection.

It's a chance to meet other families, discover local initiatives and find out more about the organisations working to improve women's health and maternity experiences across Cheshire and Merseyside.

Why are we celebrating?

For ten years, Improving Me has championed new approaches to women's health and maternity care, bringing healthcare professionals, artists, musicians, community organisations and families together.

Our Baby Week 2026 theme, "Closing the Gap", recognises that not every family has the same opportunities, support or access to care.

We believe creativity, music, welcoming public spaces and genuine community connections can make a difference.

Most importantly, this celebration is about coming together, having fun and making everyone feel welcome.
