Join us at Lil’s Rooftop Bar for an intimate evening with bestselling Australian author Tess Woods, celebrating her latest novel, The Cairo Bridal Shop.
When Penguin asked if Tess could join us for our next Author Night, it was a VERY quick yes.
Drawing on Tess’s Egyptian heritage and family history, The Cairo Bridal Shop is the novel she calls “the book of her heart” and a love letter to her nana, who made bridal gowns, including Tess’s own wedding dress.
Set at the foot of the pyramids, the novel follows three sisters fighting for their futures while navigating family, tradition, identity and survival.
Tess will be joined in conversation by Elizabeth from Rotten Fig to chat about the deeply personal inspiration behind the novel, why she chose Cairo, the real family history woven through the story and her journey from physiotherapist to bestselling author. Plus a few stories that will have us crying with laughter 👀
The conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.
