About this Event
Beyond anatomy, alignment and simply learning the asanas, there is an underlying intelligence that gives the Ashtanga method—its krama—remarkable depth and transformative potential.
In this five-day immersion, we will explore the principles that organise the practice from the inside out, looking at how breath, movement, sequencing, repetition, attention and awareness come together to create something far greater than the sum of its parts. Using asana, pranayama, vinyasa and dhyana as tools for direct inquiry, we will bring the teachings of Patañjali and other classical yoga texts onto the mat, exploring philosophy not simply as something to understand, but something to experience. Why do we practise this way? What is the method actually teaching us? And how might understanding its underlying architecture change our relationship with practice, with ourselves, and with our experience of living? Together, we will look beneath the familiar forms of Ashtanga Yoga to explore the intelligence of the method—and hopefully discover a little more about ourselves in the process.
