Saturday, March 13, 2027
12:30-4:30pm
Cost: $99
Early Bird $80 through Feb 27
Explore Standing Hand to Big Toe Posture and Tree Posture through their Sanskrit names, traditional context, and the experience of practicing and teaching them.
We’ll consider the meaning and imagery behind each name, inviting a deeper inquiry into grounding, steadiness, and the relationship between rooted support and freedom of movement.
Through guided practice, we’ll examine foot contact, hip movement, and spinal alignment in forward folding and single-leg balance. We’ll explore preparation, sequencing, variations, and progressions, using straps, blocks, and wall support to meet different needs. Breath and gaze will provide a thread connecting the physical experience of each posture with steady attention.
Teachers and trainees will practice observation, verbal cues, visual demonstrations, and consent based hands-on assistance to help students find stability, ease, and an understanding of their own alignment.
The afternoon concludes with pranayama and meditation, offering time to settle and integrate the practice.
Open to yoga teachers, trainees, and practitioners interested in exploring these postures more deeply. You do not need to perform their full expressions to participate.

Katie Beene is the owner of Lotus Pond Center for Yoga and Health and considers herself a lifelong student of yoga. She approaches teaching with humility and curiosity along with the understanding that there is always more to learn and to experience. She doesn't consider herself an expert at anything and instead she values the ongoing journey of asking questions and observing her yoga practice shift and grow over time. Her classes are taught in a mindful and intentional way, with an emphasis on presence, physical alignment, prāṇāyāma, and meditation. Katie encourages students to pay attention to the details of their experience and to expand their understanding of what yoga is. She believes yoga is not limited to postures or something that only happens inside a classroom. It's a practice that can teach us how we breathe, move, and respond to life as it is, while also helping us orient to what is most important to us and what inspires us. Katie often weaves her observations and experience from the nature into her teaching. She enjoys working with students of different ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience through group classes and personalized 1-1 sessions. Her intention is to create a warm and supportive space where students can explore yoga with curiosity and compassion.
