This talk, given by Malcolm Fraser, will cover a deep history of Health and Healing in Edinburgh, from its origins up at Soutra, through Blackfriars and the Trinity College Church, to the Victorian espousal of good, healthy Nightingale principles - what we have learned and what we appear to have forgotten.

Malcolm Fraser is an Edinburgh architect whose work spans from award-winning homes, placemaking and cultural renewal, and the care and renewal of historic buildings and towns, to advising Government, and empowering and advising communities. His work in Edinburgh includes DanceBase, the Storytelling Centre, Dovecot and social housing such as Leith Fort Colonies, as well as work with communities at Bridgend and elsewhere. He contributes to political initiatives, including with the Common Weal thinktank, whose Board he convenes.
