Join us for a night of free, family-friendly programming as part of the South Arts 2026-27 Southern Circuit Tour. Programming will begin at dusk and feature a screening of "American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez," exploring how migrant farmworker-turned-revolutionary artist Luis Valdez changed American culture through El Teatro Campesino and landmark works like Zoot Suit and La Bamba. The night will also feature a Q&A session with the film's director and producer, David Alvarado, a Chicano documentary filmmaker who is passionate about science, technology, and human rights.Guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or chairs to sit on during the screening. Local food trucks will be on-site for those interested in purchasing dinner or snacks.
The Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers is a program of South Arts. This screening is supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
