Live ritual sessions by RUSNAM (TR/SY, Berlin) and Anguezomo Nze Mba Bikoro (GA/MA, Berlin) with guest artists from communities across the Global South in a shared sonic and ritual space.
ANCXSTRAL FREQUENCIES is a research-led multimedia arts project initiated by artists RUSNAM and Anguezomo Nzé Mba Bikoro that explores sonic repair, decolonial practices, and collective healing centering queer, BIPoC, and migrant experiences. The project brings together artists from the Global South to merge para-ec(h)ological vibrations, archival sound recordings, traditional instrumentation, analog sound, electro-acoustics and somatic ritual centered on healing, resistance, mourning, and pirate-care.
The initiative, beginning as a critical reflection against OPEC's world music album (1980), brings the artists' complex entangled family lineages from West Africa, Morocco, Turkey, Syria, Anatolia, Iran, Egypt and the Afro-Caribbean through feminist vocal lenses of historically erased music pioneers. The artists are sonic healing guides through somatic rituals featuring guest artists Nora Amin, Nane Kahle, Luana Madikera and Rûveyda.
Free and open to all. Step-free venue access and accessible restrooms. On-site event support throughout.
