About this Event
Hernan Diaz, author of Trust, joins us to launch his new literary speculative masterpiece, Ply, in conversation with Heather Parry.
Set in a dystopian American future dominated by technology and aggressive capitalism, Ply is a prescient and wildly imaginative novel which sees an orphan who steals electricity drawn into a paranoid maze where her closest friends and even her own identity are put into question, from the author of former Waterstones Fiction Book of the Month Trust. Touching on questions of agency, technology, class and power (literal and metaphorical), Ply is a phenomenal novel drawing on literary and speculative elements to brilliant effect.
Hernan will join us in conversation with Heather Parry, author of Carrion Crow and Electric Dreams, to discuss telling a literary story in a science fictional setting, imagining the future, the importance of metaphor, and more, before signing copies of his books.
