On Tuesday, 17 November 2026, TRLN brings Nigerian British author Tolu’ A. Akinyemi, also known as Tolutoludo, to Beyond Vinyl at The John Marley Centre for an evening of live poetry. The author of twenty-four books, who writes across poetry, short stories, children’s literature and essays.
His poetry collection A Booktiful Love won the Best Indie Book Award in 2020, while Inferno of Silence received the 2021 IRDA Discovery Award for Short Stories. In 2026, he was named Creator of the Year for Literature at the AFRI-BALL Creators’ Awards. His writing has appeared in numerous literary magazines and anthologies, featured on BBC Sounds, and has headlined at many literary festivals.
For us at TRLN, bringing people together around books and the people who write them is part of what makes a literary community. The evening presents a chance to hear Akinyemi’s work, meet the author, and enjoy good conversation and company. Every ticket also includes a signed poetry collection of your choice, along with a commemorative bookmark and a Roaring Lion Newcastle sticker.
Tickets are £10 per person. Doors open at 7 pm, with the poetry event beginning at 7:30 pm. The evening concludes with a book signing and meet-and-greet at 8:30 pm.
