About this Event

Join Wild South London and our local insider for a Wild Walk, exploring this historic park’s surprising sides.

Where to meet

Meet your hosts outside Battersea Power Station Underground Station at its SE corner (what3words ///trucks.trying.broke). We’ll start and end here, and take in the greener side of the power station on our way to Battersea Park.

What to expect

Experience the delightful depths of Battersea Park, from its 4,000 trees to wetland bird habitat, from its subtropical oasis to riotous Old English Garden, from its thriving therapeutic gardening centre to landscape designs by Dan Pearson and Russell Page. We’ll peek behind the scenes with an insider’s perspective and also learn about community green projects just a couple blocks away.

What is a Wild Walk?

Wild Walks are fun, free events that encourage people to get outside, explore local green spaces and enjoy feeling like a kid again. We’ll walk for around two hours, stopping along the way to talk about what we’ve seen and learn some facts about the natural world. These are not rigid guided walks or foraging walks, but Wild South London trustees will be on hand to point out species, answer questions and encourage walk attendees to share their knowledge along the way too!

About Wild South London

Wild South London is a community group which aims to raise awareness of local biodiversity and promote conservation and appreciation of nature. Through walks, talks and hands-on workshops, the group will educate and inspire local people on topics such as sustainable foraging and identification of plants, animals and fungi - all while promoting the positive health and wellbeing impacts of engaging with nature.

Aims of Wild Walks:

  • To introduce people to green spaces in South London.
  • To promote the health and wellbeing benefits of interacting with nature.
  • To help people meet other like-minded individuals and learn from one another.
