About this Event
Ada Film Collective is a collaborative film exhibition effort to extend the shelf-life of short films by Black diasporic women and gender-expansive people. We know that shorts, rather than features, are often the most accessible form of filmmaking for our communities. Recognizing the value of short films, together, we dreamed of how to take showcasing our work into our own hands.
Our inaugural event ECHI DI IME (Tomorrow Is Pregnant) is an evening of screenings and conversations around three independent short fiction films by Igbo diasporic women filmmakers: Bride Price (2019) by Chuckwunonso Angel Dureke, August Visitor (2023) by Ifeyinwa Arinze, and This Thing Is Not for You (2022) by Ifeanyi Awachie. These speculative and dramatic films convey our visions of Igbo diasporic experience. Following the screenings, host and moderator Tiffany Byrd Harrison will lead a discussion with filmmakers Chuckwunonso Angel Dureke and Ifeanyi Awachie.
ECHI DI IME is generously supported by the Morehouse College HSSMA Public Social Sciences & Humanities Initiative and Atlanta Contemporary. Free parking is available on site. Seating is first come, first served, so early arrival is encouraged.
We look forward to welcoming you to ECHI DI IME.
