I have a confession about small talk: some evenings, I'd happily go without a single word of it.This coming Wednesday is one of those evenings. On 𝟭𝟭.𝟭𝟭, Blake's welcomes the 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝗗𝗼 𝗗𝘂𝗼, just a voice and a double bass, and nothing else in the room to hide behind.
I've admired 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗲's voice and musicianship for a long time. She is, without question, one of the finest rising jazz vocalists in Vietnam, quietly and patiently shaping a sound that is entirely her own. You may know her from "Dindi" (2023), "Dư âm" (2024), or her most recent release, "A Little Note To Self" (2026).
What gets me every time is her phrasing. She lets each word land exactly where it wants to, so naturally that it stops feeling like a performance and starts feeling like a secret told to you across a small table, late at night.
This time, she shares the stage with 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗟𝘆𝗹𝗲 on double bass. A duo is the most exposed format in jazz: no piano to fill the gaps, no drums to keep things moving. Every note is a conversation between two people listening very closely to each other. When it works, it's the most intimate music you can hear in a room.
So if your Wednesday has room for it, come sit with us. No small talk, just a voice, a bass, and an evening that says everything it needs to.
Trust me on this one.
