About this Event
2nd Fridays is a series that builds community, where artists can take risks in a supportive environment and where we strip the stuffiness out of the concert hall and turn it into the city's most interesting living room.
Set 1: Cameron Esquega
Cameron Esquega is an emerging composer and bassist based in Fort William First Nation, Ontario. Cameron's compositions reflect a deep connection to Indigenous culture and the natural land that surrounds his home. Cameron is currently studying bass performance at Humber College with Josh Cohen and classical composition with Joseph Glaser. As a bassist, he blends a range of musical influences, using the instrument as a tool for both melody and harmonic support. Cameron's compositions are invested in storytelling and emotion, creating spaces within his musical pieces for listeners to completely emerge themselves into the music. Cameron's compositional language is inspired by many musical genres, including minimalist techniques, ambient/drone music, noise, and synth driven timbral explorations. His work is an ongoing journey of artistic discovery, infusing his compositions with the rhythms, stories, and sounds of his Indigenous heritage.
Cameron will be artistically exploring the sounds of the world that blend into the background during daily routine, shedding a light on the modern conscious experience
